Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

One casualty was trapped in the vehicle.

Fire crews worked with paramedics to help release the casualty by 9:20pm and left in the care of the Ambulance Service.

Crews were called to a pub in Princes Road, Buckhurst Hill, after the owner discovered a fire on the ground floor. 

When firefighters arrived they were faced with a heavily smoke-logged building and reported that the ground floor was about 50% alight.

James Taylor, Monitoring Officer at the Scene, said:

"Our crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control and did a great job to stop it from spreading. 

Firefighters have issued a candle safety warning after they started a fire in a house in Chelmsford last night. 

Crews were called to the house after the residents noticed that their log burner was on fire. 

When firefighters arrived they quickly extinguished the fire and cleared the room of smoke. 

Watch Manager Gavin Ellis said:

"The residents had placed a number of candles on top of the log burner, which had started to melt and drip down.

Firefighters have urged residents to make sure they have smoke alarms after a man suffered burns in a house fire.

Crews were called to Mount Pleasant, Maldon today at 3.43am and found a small fire in a lounge.

It is believed sparks from a woodburner set fire to a basket of briquettes.

Watch Manager Martin Cable said: "Because there were no smoke alarms to warn the occupant, the fire took hold and actually burnt a hole through the floorboards.

A conservatory has been completely destroyed after an electrical fault started a fire. 

Crews were called to the house in Totlands Drive, Clacton, after the owner called 999 because of a fire in the conservatory. 

When firefighters arrived they reported that the conservatory was completely alight and the fire was beginning to spread through the windows into the house. 

Crew Manager Andrew Deex said:

"Our crews did a brilliant job of containing the fire and stopping it from spreading into the house.

Several cars have been destroyed, along with the workshop they were kept in, after a fire spread through the building.

Crews from Epping and Hainult were called to Gravel Lane, Chigwell, and on arrival reported that the workshop was completely alight. They requested two more crews to assist. 

Monitoring Officer Dave Bond said:

"With cars and cylinders inside the workshop, and other buildings close by, firefighters worked hard to bring the fire under control and stop it spreading.

A family of five have escaped a house fire after a candle started a fire in the bedroom. 

Crews were called to the house in Lodge Road, Writtle, yesterday evening after the occupants heard their smoke alarm going off and smelled burning. 

On arrival firefighters reported that there was a fire in a ground floor bedroom and smoke throughout the ground floor of the house. 

Watch Manager Ean Summerfield, Chelmsford Fire Station, said:

On-call firefighters from Wethersfield and Thaxted were called to a house fire in the early hours of this morning after the residents were woken up by their smoke alarms. 

On arrival, crews reported that smoke was coming up through the floorboards in one of the bedrooms and lifted the floorboards to locate the source of the fire. 

The cause of the fire was an electrical cable that had overheated and started to melt a heating pump. 

Firefighters have issued safety advice to dog owners and dog walkers after rescuing a dog from a frozen lake today.

The dog, a 22 kilogram girl called Bella, was out for a walk when she ventured towards an icy lake and fell in.

When crews from Rayleigh Weir and Great Baddow arrived, they were able to rescue her quickly using a float.

Two-year-old Bella was shivering and feeling sorry for herself, but otherwise unhurt.

Firefighters were called a road traffic collision in Westcliff earlier this evening.

On arrival, crews reported that a man was trapped in his vehicle and worked to release him by 7pm.

He was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.
