Crews have extinguished a field fire in Boreham.
Station Manager Nick Singleton said: "I'd like to praise our firefighters, particularly crews from Chelmsford and Witham who were first to arrive and stopped the fire from spreading.
"Due to the wind direction, the fire was getting very close to some houses but crews surrounded the fire quickly.
Firefighters were called to a field fire in Woodham Walter.
Update 12pm
Crews have spent the morning at the incident dampening down the area and making sure it is safe. A fire investigation has been carried out, at the moment the cause of the fire is undetermined.
There has been significant fire damage to the property and the home has been left uninhabitable.
Update 6.30am
The gas and electricity to the house were isolated at around 3am. Firefighters have spent the last few hours dampening down the scene and making sure it is completely cooled.

An investigation into the cause of the found it was accidental due to an electrical fault.
Firefighters were called to a roof fire in Bishopsteignton, Shoeburyness at 8:59am.
On arrival, crews reported the roof of a three-storey house was on fire.
Crews worked to extinguish the fire in sections. Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus worked to extinguish the fire from inside the building while crews used an Aerial Ladder Platform to extinguish the fire from above.

Officers will carry out an investigation into the cause when it is safe to do so.

Two crews have been at the scene throughout the day working to extinguish remaining hotspots. We will continue dampening down and monitoring the scene.

Crews are making steady progress to extinguish the fire from the ground and from above using an Aerial Ladder Platform.
Firefighters are highlighting the importance of keeping doors closed at home to prevent the spread of fire and smoke if there’s a fire in your home.
Crews were called to a house fire in Elizabeth Road, Pilgrims Hatch at 2:06pm.
On arrival, crews reported that there was a fire in the kitchen.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and believe it was caused by a defective battery on an e-scooter that caught fire.

Crews have been working with the farmer to break the stack up and extinguish the fire.
The stack is now burning under a controlled burn with the farmer.

Crews have remained at the scene throughout the day to monitor and extinguish hotspots within the fire.
Crews are currently at the scene of a fire affecting hay barrels in Marshfoot Road, Chadwell St Mary.
Firefighters have been working with the farmer to break up the stack and extinguish the fire.
UPDATED 9.00 AM
The fire was fully extinguished by 12.45am.
Crews returned this morning to check the area and monitor for any hotspots.
We believe the fire was started deliberately.

Crews are continuing to deal with the incident in Sible Hedingham.
Station Manager Pete Donovan said: "Crews worked extremely hard to get this fire under control as quickly as they did.
"The roof collapsed, which has made fully extinguishing the fire even more difficult.
