Fire service team up with KwikFit to help young drivers
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has partnered with KwikFit to educate Essex students on winter driving and tyre safety.
The fire service’s Road Safety team has visited three college’s across Essex to speak to young drivers and educate them on how to keep their vehicles safe, especially during the winter months. Representatives from KwikFit joined the team to talk about tyre safety and how to check their vehicle is ready for winter driving. During the visits the team spoke to over 450 students who were new drivers or soon to be learning to drive.
Daisy Pearson, ECFRS Road and Water Safety Lead said:
“Young drivers account for the highest number of people killed or serious injured on our roads, so we focus much of our work on engaging and educating these drivers.
“We are very thankful to KwikFit for joining us on these visits. They have so much knowledge on car and tyre safety and have really helped us talk to the students. They also kindly gave out tyre tread and pressure gauges to the students so they can continue to monitor the condition of their tyres.
"Our organisations are very different - a fire service and a car servicing and repair company - but we actually have a very strong commonality which is our shared ambition to make all drivers safer on the roads.”
