PHOTO: Man rescued from scaffolding

Firefighters rescued a man who sustained injuries after falling onto scaffolding.

Crews from Grays, Rayleigh Weir and our Urban Search and Rescue team were called to Buxton Avenue, Leigh today at 1.32pm.

A man had fallen from a pitched roof onto some scaffolding and had suffered suspected back injuries.

Crews used an Aerial Ladder Platform and worked with the Ambulance Service's Hazardous Area Response Team to rescue the casualty by 2.31pm. They left him in the care of medics.

Station Manager Dan Wastell said: "The man had fallen about 9ft from a roof onto scaffolding, which was at first floor level. 

"Our crews did a brilliant job, working closely with colleagues from the Ambulance Service's HART team, to bring him to safety."
