Road Safety Events
Our road safety team regularly visits schools and colleges to help to educate people about the dangers on our roads and how to stay safe when using them. We also run RTC demonstrations at our open days and community events to show the impact of road crashes and how our firefighters release casualties. Get involved when we visit a location near you.
VR headsets
Our state-of-the-art Virtual Reality (VR) headsets provide an immersive experience of being in a road traffic collision. The experience has been reconstructed so it is not a real RTC, and it is only suitable for individuals aged 15 and above, but It is a very impactful piece of equipment.
Without giving away spoilers, the experience shows the importance of wearing your seatbelt, not using your phone while driving and also allowing yourself not to be distracted while driving.
Booking us for an event
We regularly run safety demonstrations or talks at schools, colleges, local fetes, sports clubs, carnivals and car or biker meet-ups.
If you’re organising an event, we can work with you to create a bespoke package. This could be a talk that’s focused on a specific safety topic or doing a more general safety demonstration with some of our education vehicles.
If you’d like us to attend your event or organise something bespoke please email rtc.reduction@essex-fire.gov.uk and we’ll see how we can help.
