This is your last chance to have your say on Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’s (ECFRS) Community Risk Management Plan survey.

Essex residents only have until Sunday 17 November to have their say on how the Service manages risk and uses it resources.

A Community Risk Management Plan is a strategic plan, setting out how ECFRS will develop and continue to prevent emergencies and harm from happening in the first place.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Moira Bruin said: “Through the CRMP development process, we have looked at things like the range of the incidents we attend, our changing population, an evolving environment and new technology.

“We assess current and emerging risks, and review how we can support our communities and make them more resilient against these risks. From this we have developed 13 proposals, which is what we need the public of Essex to have they say on.”

The proposals aim to:

  • Strengthen prevention and protection work and activities
  • Have more fire engines available during peak hours
  • Respond to life-threatening incidents as quickly as possible
  • Provide firefighters and staff with the equipment, training, and development opportunities so we can provide excellent services to our public and each other
  • Provide modern buildings and facilities for staff
  • Be a safe, supportive and inclusive employer
  • Deliver value for money

Moira added: “Its really important residents take time to fill out the survey as their responses will help us in shaping our five-year strategic plan. We’d really like to hear from areas such as Epping and Harlow where we have received fewer responses.

A big thank you to those who have already taken part. Their views will help us to make Essex safer.
