Two people rescued from car stuck in flooded road
Firefighters were called to rescue two people trapped in floodwater near Sporhams Lane, Bicknacre this afternoon.
The caller used what3words to direct our control room to the incident. The words were standards.loosed.awestruck.
Specially trained water rescue firefighters worked to rescue two people by 2pm.
Station Manager Jason Gould said: “We’ve been receiving many calls into our Control Room about flooded roads and cars which need recovering.
“Please do not risk driving through floodwater. It is often deeper than you think and it really doesn’t take much water for your car to be severely damaged or for your car to float out of control, putting your life at risk.
“If you come across a flooded road, don’t take any chances, turn around and find another route.”

- Don’t assume fords are safe to cross just because the road is not closed, always look at the river level gauge
