Restaurant kitchen fire
Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire at a restaurant in West Thurrock Way, Grays last night.
On arrival, crews reported that a fire in the grill had spread to a cavity wall of the kitchen behind metal sheeting.
Crews worked to cut away at the wall to extinguish the fire by 11:30pm.
The fire was contained to the kitchen.
Watch Manager Gary Bannister from Grays Fire Station said: “We’d like to thank the restaurant staff who noticed quickly that the fire had spread within the walls and meant our crews could start dismantling the wall as soon as we got there. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and without the quick thinking of the staff and firefighters, the fire could have spread throughout the restaurant.”
