Outbuilding fire spreads to thatched house
Firefighters were called to a fire near Colchester Road, Mount Bures today (Monday 17 July).
Crews at the scene reported that the fire, which started in a timber built outbuilding, had spread to a neighbouring thatched house. The outbuilding was completely destroyed by the fire.
Firefighters managed to prevent the fire spreading to the whole thatched property. Thanks to the quick actions of the crews, the thatched property only suffered a small area of fire damage to the roof.
The cause of the fire was found to be accidental due to cooking being left unattended in the outbuilding.
