Incident

Multiple caravans on fire

Crews have extinguished a fire involving multiple caravans.

Harlow's crew was called to the incident in Roydon yesterday evening (20 December) after reports of a shed on fire. On arrival the crew was faced with a much larger incident than expected, with two caravans and several fence panels alight. The fire quickly spread to additional caravans.

Due to the size of the fire, additional support was requested from Essex and Hertfordshire crews.

The main challenge was a lack of working hydrants in the area, which meant crews had to set up water relays to supply the necessary resources to extinguish the fire.

Watch Manager Brendan Cardy, Harlow Fire Station, said: "Crews worked tirelessly in challenging circumstances to bring the fire under control. I'd like to thank our colleagues from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service for their assistance with the water relay."

Crews completely extinguished the fire within two hours.

Thankfully, no one was injured, but all the caravans involved were destroyed or damaged by the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and a fire investigation will take place when it is safe to do so.
