Large fire affecting 10 properties

Update 4:30pm

Crews have extinguished the fire in Beach Way, Clacton. 

One crew will remain on scene dampening the area and monitoring hotspots. 

Three houses have been badly damaged in the fire and seven other properties have been left with smoke and heat damage.

An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire. 

Station Manager Karl Amoss said: “Thank you to everyone for your patience while we have been dealing with this incident. 

“There is still a rest centre set up at The Sunstop if anybody needs support or has any concerns. 

“We understand the scene today was very distressing for lots of people and we will be carrying out an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.”


Update 1:30pm

We’ll be scaling this incident down to four crews who will continue to extinguish the fire in sections.

“Tendring District Council has set up a rest centre at The Sunspot, Clacton. If you have any questions or concerns, please visit the team at The Sun Spot. 

“We’d like to thank our partners for their help and a big thank you to the local community who have been doing what they can to help.”


We’re currently at the scene of a large fire in Beach Way, Clacton that is affecting 10 properties.

We’re have six crews working to get the fire under control. Please avoid the area while we deal with this incident.

There’s lots of smoke coming from the scene, if you live nearby please keep your windows and doors closed.

Station Manager Nick Singleton said: “Please avoid the area while we deal with this incident, there is a lot of smoke being blown around in the wind. 

“We have the fire under control but anticipate we’ll be here for several hours while we work to fully extinguish the fires. Initial crews worked very hard in windy conditions to prevent the fire spreading.”
