Kitchen fire
Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire in Red Lion Crescent, Harlow at 11:48am.
On arrival, three crews reported a house was heavily smoke logged and smoke had started to spread to neighbouring properties through the loft.
Crews worked to extinguish a fire in the kitchen while ventilating neighbouring properties.
The kitchen has been left heavily fire and smoke damaged.
Crews believe an electrical fault in an air fryer caused the fire.
Watch Manager Brenden Cardy from Harlow Fire Station said: “We recommend you switch off any electrical devices after using them to minimise the risk of a fire. We also recommend you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home to make sure you, your neighbours or any passers-by are alerted to the first signs of a house fire. If you haven’t got working smoke alarms at home, we can fit them for free. Find out more here.
"We recommend you test your smoke alarms at least once a month and we can send you a reminder each month through our monthly newsletter. You can sign up here."
