Ground floor flat fire

Firefighters were called to a fire in a ground floor flat in Eastcote Grove, Southend.

When crews arrived, they report the flat on the ground floor flat was full of smoke. The building consisted of a number of flats within a two storey building.

Firefighters ensured everyone from neighbouring flats were safely evacuated.

Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the property.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
