Fuse box advice after house fire in Langdon Hills
Crews have issued safety advice after a house fire caused by a fuse box.
We were called to a mid-terrace property in Lippits Hills, Langdon Hills today (Sunday 2 March) at 2.09am and crews from Basildon (two) and Corringham attended and extinguished the fire.
Watch Manager Rob Fossett said: "The fire started in a fuse box and caused extensive damage to the property, leaving the family temporarily homeless.
"We often find fuse boxes in areas cluttered with coats and shoes. We would urge residents not to place items around fuse boxes; they could catch fire if there is a fault and make access difficult if the electricity needs to be shut off."
Crews plan to visit properties in Lippits Hill and Spire Road on Friday afternoon to carry out home safety checks.
