Firefighters rescue dogs from house fire
Firefighters rescued two dogs from a house fire in Chelmsford last night.
Our Control Room received multiple calls with reports of smoke coming out of a house on Milburn Crescent, Chelmsford at 11.17pm. When crews arrived, the house was full of smoke and there was fire in the utility room. The family had got themselves out of the property but two dogs were still inside.
Watch Manager Mark Curtis said: "The fire was well developed in the utility room so crews used ventilation equipment as well as searching for the two dogs who were both found and safe.
"There was extensive damage to the utility room and the rest of the property suffered smoke damage. We believe the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
"This incident highlights the importance of having smoke alarms in your property. The one here alerted the family and we were able to get to them quickly."
