Fire at waste recycling site
Update 25 March
Watch Manager Darren Hockley said: "A fire investigation has been carried out and we believe the cause was most likely a lithium ion battery which had been disposed of incorrectly.
"I'd like to stress the importance of disposing of your lithium ion batteries properly, not in a skip or with domestic household waste. Always check with your local authority for suitable battery recycling arrangements in your area."
Crews have been working to extinguish approximately 35 tonnes of waste.
Watch Manager Sharon Blute said: "Crews have worked hard, with difficult water supply, to tackle the fire hotspots in the rubbish.
"There is no risk of smoke to the community and relief crews will remain to monitor the scene."
Firefighters are currently tackling a fire at a waste recycling site near Cordons Farm, Braintree.
Crews from Braintree, Dunmow and Coggeshall are in attendance.
There is a lot of smoke in the area. If you live nearby please keep your windows and doors shut.
