Fire in derelict building
Update 7am
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire by 1am and one crew remained overnight to monitor hotspots.
An investigation will be carried out later today to determine the cause of the fire.
Update 11pm
We’re in a position to scale this incident down to four crews who will continue to extinguish the last of the fire and cool the scene.
Crews have been working to extinguish the fire in sections which had affected an area of approximately 40 metres by 15 metres.
An investigation will be carried out tomorrow to determine the cause of the fire.
Update 8pm
We currently have eight crews working to extinguish the fire from within the building and from the first floor of the building using an Aerial Ladder Platform.
Four additional crews were requested for more firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus due to a large amount of debris within the derelict building.
Firefighters are continuing to extinguish the fire in sections.
