Field fires, Braintree and Chelmsford, Ongar

Crews were called to a field fire in Romford Road, Stanford Rivers, Ongar at 8.06pm last night (Thursday).

20 metres by 20 metres of cut hay were alight. Firefighters extinguished the blaze using hose reel jets by 10.17pm.

It was attended by crews from Loughton, Epping and Harlow. The cause of the fire was accidental.


On-call firefighters from Braintree and Halstead quickly stopped a field fire in Convent Lane, Braintree, this afternoon.

They were called at 3.51pm to 100 metres by 100 metres of field alight and used hose reel jets and beaters to put it out.

The fire was extinguished by 4.18pm. The cause has been recorded as accidental.

Crews from Coggeshall and Chelmsford were called to a field fire in Damases Lane, Chelmsford at 6.16pm this evening. They stopped the fire in the standing crop field by 6.31pm. The cause has been recorded as accidental.
