Fatal road traffic collision

Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Parklands, Waltham Abbey at 12:55pm on 10th January 2022.

On arrival, crews reported that two vehicles had collided and two people were trapped inside one of the vehicles.

Crews worked to release two people and a dog who were left in the care of the Ambulance Service. 

Firefighters worked to make the scene safe by 1:52pm.

Sadly, two of the people involved in the collision passed away.

A statement from Essex Police reads: "We are now able to confirm two people have died after being involved in a collision in Parklands, Waltham Abbey, yesterday afternoon.

"We were called to reports of a collision between a BMW and a Mini near to the junction with Congreve Road shortly before 1pm.

"We can now confirm the occupants of the Mini, a man aged in his 50s and a woman aged in her 30s, have died from their injuries.

"No arrests have been made and specialist officers are working to establish the circumstances which led to the collision."

Police are appealing for witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to come forward, if they have not already done so.
