Fatal house fire in Stanford-le-Hope

Crews were called to a fire at a house in Stanford-le-Hope today.

Firefighters from Corringham, Orsett and Basildon attended the semi-detached house in Branksome Avenue shortly after 3pm. 

They found a well-developed fire on the first floor and fully extinguished it by 4.06pm.

Sadly a man died at the scene.

The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.

Essex Police have released the following statement:

We were called to a fire at a house in Branksome Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope shortly after 3.05pm today (Tuesday 4 April).

Sadly, a man inside was found dead.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service will carry out an investigation into the cause of the fire but we are not currently treating the man’s death as suspicious.
