Fatal caravan fire

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing and fire investigation officers have determined it was caused accidentally.

Essex Police has confirmed that a woman has sadly died at the scene. The statement reads:
A woman has sadly died following a fire at a caravan park in Clacton.
Emergency services were called to Highfield Grange Holiday Park just before 10am this morning (Monday 31 May) to reports that a caravan was alight.
Firefighters have extinguished the fire and remain on scene at this time.
Sadly, a woman in her 50s was inside the caravan and died at the scene.
Another woman, aged in her 20s, was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and remains there under observation.
Our officers are working with fire investigators to establish the cause of the fire.
Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by today’s tragic events.
Firefighters are currently at the scene of a static caravan fire in London Road, Clacton.
On arrival, crews reported that a static caravan - measuring 3 metres by 7 metres - was 100% alight.
Crews extinguished the fire by 10:30am and an investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out.
