Farm buildings alight
Firefighters were called to a fire involving a number of farm buildings early this morning (Thursday 20 May).
When fire crews arrived they reported that the fire was affecting three large barns. The barns measure an area of approximately 50m x 60m.
*Update 4:30am* Crews at scene report that one structured wooden barn has been completely destroyed by the fire. Firefighters are continuing to tackle the fire in two other metal cladded barns which also contain farm vehicles. Firefighters have managed to remove several cylinders from the buildings to a safe place to be kept cool.
*Update 5:30am* The fire is under control and firefighters are working to extinguish hot spots. Three fire engines will remain at the scene for the next few hours to ensure all hot spots are fully extinguished and cooled.
The cause of the fire is not known.
