Crews tackle fire at hotel

Update Saturday 29 March - 1.30am

The fire has been extinguished and the number of crews at the scene will be significantly reduced over the next few hours.

The fire affected 25% of the building.

Area Manager Dan Partridge said: "We are grateful that the building was evacuated so efficiently, and no-one suffered any injuries.

"I would like to praise crews for their hard work in getting the fire under control so quickly.

"I would also like to thank our crews and partner agencies for supporting the families and individuals affected; they have all been taken to alternative accommodation." 

An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the fire later this morning.


Friday 28 March - 11.15pm

Crews are tackling a fire at a hotel in North Weald Bassett.

We were called to Epping Road today at (Friday 28 March) at 9.05pm.

Ten crews, an Aerial Ladder Platform, water bowser (used to supply high quantities of water), drone, Incident Command Unit and Officers are in attendance.

Area Manager Dan Partridge said: “Crews will be working at the scene throughout the night and a section of Epping Road will remain closed, with a diversion in place, so please avoid the area.

“Everyone who was in the hotel has been accounted for. We are supporting our partner agencies while they find accommodation for those affected.”
