Crews tackle fire in derelict building
UPDATED 9.00 AM
The fire was fully extinguished by 12.45am.
Crews returned this morning to check the area and monitor for any hotspots.
We believe the fire was started deliberately.
UPDATED 11.15PM
Crews are continuing to deal with the incident in Sible Hedingham.
Station Manager Pete Donovan said: "Crews worked extremely hard to get this fire under control as quickly as they did.
"The roof collapsed, which has made fully extinguishing the fire even more difficult.
"A crew will remain at the scene overnight to monitor the scene."
An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause.
Crews are tackling a fire in a derelict building in Sible Hedingham this evening.
We were called to Church Street today at 8.12pm and firefighters found a building measuring approximately 35 metres by 40 metres completely alight.
Crews from Sible Hedingham, Halstead, Coggeshall and Braintree, along with Colchester's Aerial Ladder Platform and Halstead's Water Bowser, used to supply large amounts of water, are on the scene.
