Crews stop terraced house fire spreading
Crews stopped a fire affecting a terraced house from spreading to the adjoining properties.
We were called to Knights Way, Brentwood today at 12.09pm after a member of the public saw smoke coming from the roof of a house.
Crews from Brentwood, Basildon, Orsett and Billericay attended and confirmed a fire on the first floor of a property had spread to the loft. They fully extinguished it by 1.22pm.
Station Manager Toby Ingham said: "I must praise crews and the Incident Commander, Watch Manager Mark Elsey, for the brilliant job they did in preventing the fire from spreading.
"No-one was at the property when the fire started, so thank you to the members of public who called 999. Smoke alarms were sounding when crews entered so the occupants would have been alerted had they been at home."
A fire investigation will be carried out to establish the cause.
