Crews extinguish fire affecting three flats
Crews extinguished a fire affecting three flats in Clacton.
We were called to Ellis Road today (Monday 31 March) at 3.36pm after a resident saw smoke coming from a first floor flat.
Crews from Clacton, Weeley, Frinton, Colchester, Tollesbury and Colchester's Aerial Ladder Platform attended.
Station Manager Ryan Ainger said: "Crews were faced with a developing fire which had spread to the voids in wall spaces and the ceiling.
"It was challenging for crews to identify where the fire was. Multiple crews wearing Breathing Apparatus worked really hard to remove sections of the ceiling and walls and extinguish the fire."
Three flats have been left uninhabitable due to fire and smoke damage. A further four flats were damaged by smoke and water but are still habitable.
Two casualties, one suffering smoke inhalation and another with minor burns, were treated at the scene.
The cause has been recorded as an accidental electrical fire.
