Control Room receives more than 250 calls in seven hours during Storm Henk
Our Control Room received more than 250 calls between 1pm and 8pm today as Storm Henk brought strong winds and heavy rain to Essex.
Among the incidents we attended were:
- 3.26pm - a tree fell on a house in Second Avenue, West Thurrock, trapping the occupants inside, and crews from Grays and Brentwood cut off branches to release them
- 4.01pm - a crew from Loughton cut and cleared a tree which had fallen in High Road, Chigwell
- 4.20pm - a crew from Basildon cut and cleared a tree which had fallen in Orsett Road, Horndon on the Hill
- 4.23pm - a crew from Southend cut and cleared a tree which had fallen on a house in Boston Avenue, Southend, trapping the occupants inside
- 4.35pm - an Officer came across a tree which had fallen across Walton Road, Kirby-le-Soken and made the scene safe while a farmer cut the tree and cleared the road
- 5.12pm - a crew from cleared a fallen tree from Childerditch Lane, Brentwood
- 5.38pm - a crew from Colchester cut and cleared a tree which had fallen in The Commons, Colchester
- 6.25pm - a crew from Witham secured a metal shed which was in danger of blowing onto railway lines in Southcote Road, Witham
- 6.46pm - a chimney in Grandview Road, Thundersley was in a precarious position and crews from Rayleigh Weir made it safe
- 7.31pm - crews from Billericay, Chelmsford, Brentwood and Leigh rescued a man from the roof of his vehicle after it got trapped at Buttbury Wash
